Magical, Muck and Macro experience at Mabul Island

Are a keen photographer? Unleash your picture passion at one of the exquisite islands of Malaysia. Located in the clear waters of the Celebes Sea off the mainland of Sabah, Mabul Island is reputed to be one of the best places for underwater macro photography in the world.

If you thought the Sipadan was large, well the Mabul is an oceanic haven. If you’re a professional diver or novice then Mabul is the place for you. If you’re underwater, frolic around some of the rare marine species. Come up close and personal with the bright red Orang Utan crab, watch the black ornate ghostpipefish dazzle before you and the bubble coral shrimps light the blue waters with their bright hues. Besides you can also catch glimpses of clingfish, the flamboyant cuttlefish, mandarin fish and ring eyed dwarf goby.

At Mabul Island, you must discover the Paradise Point where you find crazy critters in abundance at this magical macro site!  If you’re lucky enough you could also spot moray eels and frogfishes known to be masters of camouflage.
How to get there? Reach Mabul Island by a 30-minute boat ride from Semporna and 20 minutes from Sipadan Island.
