A Journey Through Time

Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur is listed by as ‘one of Asia’s most beautiful shopping malls’. Integrated within the Starhill Gallery complex are the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur and The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur to complete the experience of luxury at the ‘A Journey Through Time’ event, Asia’s haute horology and jewellery event of the year which takes place every end of the year.

Over the years, the festival has attracted more than 210,000 international visitors of the highest net worth to Starhill Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, including private jets that have flown in from the Middle East, Hong Kong, Macau and the ASEAN region especially for the celebration. Amongst the initiated, it is fondly known as the ‘Connoisseurs’ Festival’ because unlike other watch fairs that are targeted at retailers and distributors, ‘A Journey Through Time’ is specially hosted for serious watch collectors, aficionados and the super affluent ‘connoissuer’. Its list of guests every December includes royal families from the region, Forbes Asia’s Billionaires List, CEOs List, renowned watch makers and watch principals of the world.

As Forbes magazines has aptly described, ‘A Jouney Through Time’ is an epic adventure of luxury with its annual showcase of the ‘world’s most fabulous timepieces and jewellery’. Every day is a connoisseurs’ paradise of haute horology and jewellery. Every night is a gala celebration of haute cuisines in award-winning restaurants featuring world class entertainment and fashion parades, international stars and concert flautists, tenors, sopranos and the 22-piece Starhill Gallery Sinfonietta.

The Shook! Grand Stage at Feast Village, Starhill Gallery has played host to some of the brightest operatic stars over the years including Russell Watson, Kathleen Jenkins, Cynthia Lawrence, Simir Pirgu and renowned concert flautist Andrea Griminelli. Maria Cordero, Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina, Stephen-Rahman Hughes and Ning Baizura among others have also performed to full houses at ‘A Journey Through Time’.

Every year, ‘A Journey Through Time’ culminates with a grand finale on the last night of the festival with Asia’s most eagerly anticipated watch awards – the Starhill Gallery Watch of the Year Award. The first ever Asian horological awards endorsed by a nation, it features award winners in seven categories including the grand prize of the ‘Tourism Malaysia Most Revered Watch of the Year’ which is traditionally presented to the winner by the Minister of Tourism, Malaysia.
