1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival

Indulge into a new experience of shopping, while you eat, shop and celebrate at the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival. All set to woo shoppers with a string of promotions and tempting discounts for seven whole weeks, the sale carnival this time brings you even more bargains. With the onset of the Hari Raya Puasa festivities and the 1Malaysia Unified Sale which runs concurrently with the 1MMSC 2012, this carnival offers more than just retail goods. So look within and beyond shopping malls this year and experience a wholesome shopping spree.
Beginning from 15th June, the Carnival continues till 2nd September with the official launch at Sunway Pyramid on 14 June. The 1MMSC promises to be an exciting event this year, since it coincides with several other events, such as the Ramadan and Aidilfitri festivities as well as the 1Malaysia Contemporary Art Festival (1MACT). Hosts of interesting events await the tourists, including the lighting up of the 1MMSC ice-sculpture, a fashion preview by the KL Fashion Weekend, as well as performances choreographed by ice-skaters of the Sunway Pyramid Ice Skating Academy and the ‘London, The Summer Musical’ group.

MasterCard Worldwide has been the official card for the event because it has been associated with the Carnival from the very onset of it. This year, there will be various contests and discounts available for cardholders, including the chance of winning a 30-night stay at five different YTL Luxury Resorts Hotel worth more than RM30,000. The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Bukit Bintang-KLCC Tourism Association, is introducing a discount shopping card for foreign tourists in conjunction with the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival 2012 from Friday until September 2. Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said, they would need to show their passports at the customer service counter of participating shopping centres, to obtain the discount cards which are valid for one week. Discounts are being offered at leading shopping malls like Lot 10, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Sungei Wang Plaza and others.

 To further increase the sale in this season, the KL Fashion Weekend Spring/ Summer 2012 simultaneously with the 1MMSC was run from 15th – 17th June at Mid Valley Megamall and Suria KLCC. It featured labels from Parkson, Metrojaya, and Isetan, which will be on sale throughout the duration of the 1MMSC 2012. A total of 93 participants consisting of journalists, travel consultants, and top management staff of various tour agencies in eighteen key markets were also expected to attend the launch of the 1MMSC as part of the Tourism Malaysia’s Mega Familiarisation programme. 

It is a medium among one of the many promotional projects conducted by the Ministry of Tourism to establish Malaysia as a leading international shopping destination. Other efforts by the government include the abolishment of duties of various items to encourage duty free shopping in Malaysia. Among the duty free items are cameras, sports equipment, footwear, and jewellery. So all the shopaholics, stop wasting time, get your tickets and luggage, and head straightway to the ultimate shopping destination in the world.
