Theme Parks in Malaysia

If visiting theme parks is your favorite vacation activity, then you should perhaps consider planning a holiday in Malaysia for the  country is equipped with a plethora of theme parks which cater to all preferences, tastes and ages.
Listed below are some of the most popular theme parks in Malaysia


Legoland located in Malaysia’s southernmost state Johor, Legoland Malaysia is the brand’s first outpost in Southeast Asia. This relatively new attraction features seven distinct themed areas like the Beginning, LEGO® Technic, LEGO Kingdoms, Imagination, LEGO City, Land of Adventure and Miniland. The park hosts more than 40 rides and various shows and attractions, like its fascinating Miniland area, home to replicas of famed Asian landmarks like the Taj Mahal and the Petronas Towers fashioned with 30 million LEGO bricks.

Sunway Lagoon

This theme park is situated in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and extends over an expansive area measuring 88 acres. The park hosts more than 70 attractions within its five main areas namely the Water Park, the Amusement Park, the Extreme Park, the Wildlife Park and the Scream Park. Aside from these main entertainment areas, the park also encloses a man-made surf beach and a suspension bridge.

Bukitmerah Lake Resort
The Bukitmerah Lake resort is regarded as Malaysia’s leading ecotourism destination. The resort is divided in to three main areas namely the Eco Park, the Water Park and the Orangutan Island, a sanctuary for the endangered orange-haired primates known as orangutans. The resort borders Malaysia’s largest fresh water lake and hosts various thrilling rides like the Sandy Beachfront wave, the Giant Wet Bubble and the Boomerang fun slide amongst others. The park also offers various recreational activities like ATV riding, canoeing, rafting, sky trekking and so forth.

A'Famosa Resort
Melaka’s A Famosa resort is renowned for its many varied attractions including an Animal World Safari which offers sighting of several native Malaysian wild animals like Malayan tigers and sun bears. Other attractions at the park include Monkey Island, a Water World Wave pool and a Lazy River, which as its name suggests encourages guests to lie back and wind down as its soothing waters twirl you around. At nighttime, guests are transported to the American state of Texas via the park’s Cowboy Town attraction which features parades, carnivals and various other symbols of Americana like a bowling alley, a shopping village and restaurants offering a plethora of western eats.

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park
The Berjaya Times Square Theme park is the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia. Situated within the huge Berjaya Times Square mall in Kuala Lumpur, this theme park is equipped with fourteen exciting rides within its two main areas, the Galaxy Station and the Fantasy Garden. Star attractions at the park currently consist of the 800m long Supersonic Odyssey and the super, spooky Haunted Chamber, a relatively recent addition.

Genting Highlands Theme Park

The Genting Highlands Theme park hosts more than forty exciting rides within its two main areas the Outdoor Theme Park and the Indoor theme park.

The Mines Wonderland
A popular weekend getaway for the residents of Kuala Lumpur, the Mines Wonderland theme park can be easily accessed via twenty minute drive from KL city center. The theme park which stands on an old mining site, hosts  various entertainment options like the Ice factory,the first winter wonderland in Malaysia which features a 10,000 sq. foot snow house where temperatures are kept a constant -10°C to -15°C, a credible achievement in tropical country like Malaysia. Some of the other attractions in the park include an Aqua Laser Show, a vintage car exhibit, a mini-zoo and a musical fountain display.
